That connection between the formula and the finished feed remains central to his work at Tucker. Alongside developing and refining diets, Curran has worked to improve pellet manufacturing and helped assemble the company’s animal food safety plan. He also develops software and uses data analysis to support formulation and mill operations.
Curran earned his doctorate in Poultry Science at Auburn University under Dr. William Dozier III. His research examined how differences in corn quality and feed enzymes affect growth and the digestion of nutrients and energy. At West Virginia University, he completed his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Animal and Nutritional Sciences. Working with Dr. Joe Moritz, his master’s research focused on improving the physical and nutritional quality of pelleted feed.
Before joining Tucker, Curran provided poultry nutrition and technical support through Ridley Feed Ingredients, serving customers across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic. His consulting experience includes commercial egg production and pastured and free-range egg systems. He has authored or coauthored 21 peer-reviewed research publications and one book chapter. His published research covers feed quality, ingredient digestibility, enzyme use, and poultry performance.
Curran’s industry service includes terms as president of the Alabama Feed and Grain Association in 2023 and the Southern Poultry Science Society in 2022, along with service on Mississippi State University’s Executive Feed Mill Advisory Board Committee. His research honors include the Alltech Student Research Manuscript Award and the Novus International Research Award.
For customers, that experience starts with practical questions: What animals are you feeding? What are they eating now? What do you want your feeding program to accomplish? Our horse finder, poultry finder, and feed comparisons can help you get started, and you can send Curran a question about your animals and current feed.
